1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Nexus ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Software.
2. Description of Service
Nexus is a free desktop application for Windows that unifies your PC game libraries from multiple launchers (Steam, Epic Games, GOG, Battle.net, Amazon Games) into a single interface. It provides play time tracking, library organisation, collections, and integrations with third-party services.
3. License
Nexus is provided as free software for personal, non-commercial use. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the Software on your personal computer. You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except where permitted by applicable law
- Redistribute, sell, lease, or sublicence the Software
- Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the Software
4. Third-Party Services
Nexus integrates with third-party services including but not limited to Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG Galaxy, Battle.net, Amazon Games, IGDB, SteamGridDB, HowLongToBeat, Twitch, and Google Drive. Your use of these services through Nexus is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. Nexus is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these services.
5. API Keys
Certain features of Nexus require API keys that you obtain directly from third-party services (e.g., IGDB, SteamGridDB). You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of those providers when using your API keys with Nexus. Nexus stores these keys locally on your device and does not transmit them to any Nexus-operated server.
6. User Data
All data generated by Nexus (game library, play sessions, collections, notes, settings) is stored locally on your computer by default. Nexus offers an optional Google Drive backup feature that uploads a copy of your local database to your own Google Drive account. You are solely responsible for managing your backups, whether local or cloud-based. Nexus does not guarantee the availability, integrity, or recoverability of cloud backups — Google Drive's own terms and service availability apply. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the author or contributors of Nexus be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Game Ownership
Nexus is a library management tool. It does not sell, distribute, or provide access to games. All games displayed within Nexus are owned by you through their respective platforms. Nexus does not circumvent any digital rights management (DRM) or copy protection mechanisms.
10. Updates
Nexus may check for and notify you of available updates. Installing updates is optional but recommended. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Software at any time without notice.
11. Termination
You may stop using Nexus at any time by uninstalling the Software. We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your access to the Software if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Nexus after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
